Like the title? Sounded like a rap lyrics, didn't it??? Everyone knows the best time to shoot photos is golden hour, or right when the sun is about to set. From 1,500ft in the air though it's a similar story, but on another level.
This is a classic shot from a FlyNYON flight but it's especially beautiful during golden hour. When the sun is right on the horizon, you see long shadows from the New Jersey skyline hitting the Hudson and since you need to overexpose from shooting into the sunset, you still get the reflections and details in all the buildings below while nearly blowing out the horizon. This image is always a winner but it's particularly magical during this time of day.
For this photo, I used the Sony A7SII with the Sony 24-70mm f/4. The 24-70 is known for being an ideal "all-rounder" when photographing anything and as much as I HATE that fact, it actually is perfect for aerial photography. You get your wide shots without being too wide and getting the props in the shot but you still get a bit of zoom if needed to focus on something a bit further than what's right in front of you. This is always my recommendation for people who are taking their first aerial photo experience.
