I have a top travel tip for everyone who is on the move: Whenever you're in a new place, always try to get as high as possible! (Elevation, not drugs) Being up above everything gives you a great and different perspective on where ever you are in the world.
On my recent visit to Bangkok, Thailand, we discovered that the tallest building in the city was a 10 minute walk from our hotel. The building was called the Baiyoke Sky Hotel and even though it's only 84 floors, you're still well above the skyline of Bangkok and the view is amazing.
I've been to the tops of some of the tallest buildings in the world like the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and the Freedom Tower in New York City and I can say that this is the easiest observation deck to get to the top of. You can literally walk in, buy a ticket for only 400 Bhat (11 USD), take a couple of elevators to the top and you're there within minutes. There was no security to pass through and no long lines to wait on. When you get to the top, you're greeted with a free drink and a completely unobstructed view of Bangkok. Unlike most observation decks around the world, this one is much less crowded so there's no fighting to get a good view or waiting for hundreds of people to take selfies. The observation deck is a revolving open terrace so there's no dirty windows in the way of your shots.
We went right before sunset so we were able to get the perfect shots during blue hour. We also easily succeeded in getting the best possible view of Bangkok!
