Here is one of the most epic things ever done on blades. Period.
I have a lot to say about this photo sequence and this trick in particular from what I remember. This was while Billy was filming for his Mindgame "Accidental Machines" section in 2006 (Holy shit that was 10 years ago already!). Billy was in a "fuck shit up" part of his career and at this particular time was heavily motivated by his short addiction to sky diving. I remember him coming back from his first or second time in the same week saying how unreal it was and that it makes you feel like you can do anything you want. This was shortly followed by him saying something along the lines of "I'm going to disaster into the roll in at the stadium."
This was a very well known spot in blading at the time and we were all doing the rails, ledges, roll-in to disasters, rail transfers, all that stuff but there was always 2 things that we speculated would one day would have to be done. One was that Ski (Erik Perkett) would gap the whole double set and the other was that someone would jump into the second part of the roll-in. Coincidentally, there is a full downhill approach to this set of stairs for about 3 or 4 consecutive blocks, so speed wasn't the issue. The issue was someone having the balls to do it.
Billy was on a mission to change the game so we went with a bunch of cameras to get down to business. There were a few extra people here this day to film (Jon Morciglio, Jeremy Spira) so I was able to shoot a photo.
Here is the clip I posted on YouTube a few years back:
At the end of the fisheye clip you see Jon Morciglio saying "fuck 450s". I believe there was a lot of speculation behind the whole "spin to win" thing beginning to get out of hand. Billy said fuck that, I'm just going to jump big shit instead!
